ZACK KING says Saturday's 55-8 thrashing of bottom side Thanet Wanderers has given Warlingham a confidence boost ahead of this weekend's clash with fourth-placed Crowborough.
The victory, coupled with the arrival of new head coach Ben Stobart, has revitalised the atmosphere among the squad and King revealed that preparation for the Crows' visit has already begun.
"We stopped their two-year winning streak away from home, so Crowborough are going to be up for it," he said.
"But we've got a new-found belief that we can really take it to them - I can genuinely say I think we will win the game and we are raring to go.
"The win over Thanet was exactly what we needed. We were able to build on some momentum and we put together a really solid performance, and it's given the lads and the club a lift.
"When you go on these slight down patches it's difficult, and we hadn't played at home in what felt like forever, so it all makes a huge difference.
"Some of the players are already talking and preparing for Crowborough and it hasn't felt like that for a while There is more to come. We were really good but we could have been even better against Thanet."
Warlingham's attacking threat began to take shape after the opening stages which saw the away side matching them.
But it soon became one-way traffic for the hosts, with a number of players looking to impress Stobart.
"Thanet are clearly struggling but they stuck at it for around ten minutes, and it was actually 3-3 at that point," said King.
"But once we broke them down, they couldn't contain us.
"To go out there and put in a big performance was the first game that the new head coach was there and I think everyone has got something to prove again to him.
"He hasn't seen us much this season so everyone was playing for their position again – that can only be a good thing."
And the skipper revealed the weather last week nearly ruined their preparation for a big scoreline.
"We were genuinely worried we may have had to call the game off because it was waterlogged," he said.
"We only got half-an-hour outside and all the practice pitches were under water too. And on the Thursday, a lot of the guys couldn't make it as it was Valentine's Day, but we got to the game early on Saturday and warmed up properly, which was something we hadn't done for a while.
"It made people focused on what they had to do and it translated on the pitch."
