Michael Wilson was this week confirmed as the permanent Chief Executive of Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
Mr Wilson, who has been running the Trust, which includes East Surrey Hospital, for the past two and a half years, was appointed with the unanimous backing of the board.
The permanent appointment is a big step for the healthcare Trust as it moves towards gaining Foundation status.
Alan McCarthy, Chairman of the Trust said: "I am delighted to announce the appointment of Michael Wilson as substantive Chief Executive of Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. Michael has been running the trust for the past two and a half years in a temporary capacity. The board is unanimous in its support of Michael and his track record clearly demonstrates he is the right person to lead the trust at this exciting time."
