A tree toppled over on the A25 Nutfield Road in Nutfield at around 1pm today.
It blocked both lanes, forcing traffic to turn around and seek alternative routes.
The tree came down near the junction with Fullers Wood Lane.
Some eastbound cars and vans turned around in the entrance forecourt of Nutfield Priory to turn back the way they had came.
Workmen cut down the fallen tree, and the road was open to traffic around 4pm.
