IT MIGHT not feel like summer is getting any closer but these pictures by Dorking resident Mignonne Cox should help you start to look forward to hazy days returning to Mole Valley.
The principal of the Blue Academy of Performing Arts, based in Dorking, took these pictures while out running across Ranmore Common.
The mother-of-two said: "The views amongst trees and over Dorking are always stunning, whatever the weather – snow, rain or hot sunshine – but there was one run that was particularly memorable.
"It was around this time I was having a few personal problems and needed to make difficult decisions.
"On this day as I left the cover of the trees, I found myself surrounded by a flurry of butterflies. All beautiful colours, especially the blue one.
"Amazingly the butterflies settled long enough for me to be able to take these detailed photographs, on nothing more than my iPhone. It was interesting that I was able to capture these amazing images on this particular day as my life was about to enter a new phase and butterflies symbolise change and a new start."
Jane Smith, from the Butterfly Conservation, identified the specimen shown on this page.
She said: "All of these can be seen in Surrey on the chalk downland of the North Downs, such as Box Hill."
