Surrey Union Hunt staff and supporters were subjected to a tirade of foul language and abuse by hunt saboteurs after they returned from taking their hounds out on exercise, a court has heard.
Anti-hunting activist Nick Maffia of Tally Road, Oxted, pleaded guilty to the charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress, which took place at the hunt kennels in Ockley, Surrey, early on August 16 last year.
Maffia was fined £150 with £350 court costs when he appeared at South East Surrey Magistrates Court on March 18.
A member of the hunt had videoed Maffia and two others shouting abuse at the hunt staff and supporters from the gate to the kennel yard over a period of around 45 minutes.
The incident was one of a number of times Maffia had been seen close to the hunt kennels.
Tim Bonner of the Countryside Alliance said: "This was completely unacceptable behaviour. Mr Maffia and others were close to homes and children and were using frankly disgusting language towards hunt staff.
"We are pleased that Mr Maffia owned up to his despicable actions but are sorry it took so many months of wasting the police and  courts' time  for him to do so."
