Richard Brady says Leatherhead have no excuses

RICHARD BRADY says Leatherhead have "no excuses" as they prepare for the league run-in and their continued push for the play-offs.

With ten games to go in the Ryman League Division One South campaign, the Tanners currently occupy the final play-off spot, despite a recent dip in form.

But following a week off due to the weather, the Tanners boss said the squad has had a chance to regroup, adding that they were now refreshed and ready to go for the run-in.

"I think having the game postponed on Saturday actually worked in our favour," he said.

"It was nice to have a little break to regroup and reevaluate where we are.

"We have ten games to go and we are now ready to have a right good go at it."

Brady admitted that it had been a long old season, but with the weather causing havoc with the fixture list, there is still some way to go in the final six weeks of the season.

And while the Tanners have struggled in recent weeks, with some poor results seeing them drop out of the automatic promotion race, Brady says the side must look to focus on the run-in and getting the results to cement their berth in the "lottery" that is the play-offs.

And he said his squad has no excuses now with players returning from injury ahead of the run-in.

"We are refreshed now and looking forward to the challenge - I say bring it on," he said.

The Tanners, who have taken just one point from their last two games against play-off rivals Hythe Town and Folkestone Invicta, come up against another side in and around them this week, with Crawley Down Gatwick the visitors to Fetcham Grove on Saturday.

But Brady says his side cannot focus on league positions, but must instead concentrate on their own game and beating whoever is in front of them.

"We just have to crack on now," he said.

"We haven't done what we should have done in the last month, but that is gone now.

"We have ten games left now and we need to go out and put a statement to show what we are about.

"People are questioning whether we are up for it after our recent run and we have got to prove that we are.

"We know that we are good enough to be in the play-offs and you have to be in it to win it, but we have to go out and make sure we are."

Brady added that the Tanners were boosted by the return of Tom Bradbrook, who scored in the 1-1 draw with Folkestone last week.
