SNOW is continuing to fall across East Surrey this morning. By 10.30am, there were reports of two inches of lying snow in Tadworth.
The snow is lying thickly at Reigate Hill but the main A217 Reigate to Banstead is clear of snow although a little slush has built up at the sides of the road and one car has hit a lamp post near Mogador and the vehicle is badly damaged.
Another car has been abandoned on the Reigate Hill A217 roundabout.
Villagers in Lower Kingswood are going about their routine chores wrapped up against the cold. One lady kicked the snow off her wellington boots outside the village store in Buckland Road and continued to do some weekend shopping.
Families have been enjoying the winter wonderland conditions at Reigate Hill and Colley Hill. A couple with four red setters said their pets were truly enjoying the experience.
Trees were draped in a mantle of snow one and half inches deep by mid-morning in the Reigate Hill, Mogador, Margery and Kingswood areas.
There was a 50mph speed limit on the eastbound M25 slip road at junction 8 at Reigate Hill because of driving snow in the Gatton and Merstham area.
Trains have been delayed in places across Surrey. A number of minor crashes have occurred on the M3 and there are reports of one lane of the A3 being blocked by an accident at Hindhead.
