AN ELDERLY woman survived a crash in which her car plunged down an embankment off the M25 near Godstone and flipped on to its roof.
The car, driven by a woman in her 80s, is thought to have clipped a lorry between the Godstone and M23 junctions at around 7.15pm on Saturday.
One lane was closed as police, ambulance and fire crews from Godstone, Reigate and Oxted dealt with the incident.
Tim Barnes, watch manager at Godstone Fire Station, said: "The car had gone down the embankment and ended up on its roof. The lady was very lucky.
"We turned up thinking the worst, but she was inside the vehicle chatting away. Amazingly, she was lying down on the roof inside the upside-down car and on the phone to her daughter. An off-duty paramedic who had been on his way home had stopped and was with her.
"We made room in the car and took her out on a spinal board. She seemed to be OK. She was taken to hospital for a precautionary check."
