TWENTY-TWO fighters from GBMAA Predatorz travelled to Birmingham recently to take part in the renowned Kwon Grand Slam.
Predatorz aged six through to adult from the GBMAA Academies in Epsom, Leatherhead, Cobham, Croydon and Guildford had trained hard and it paid off, with the team, led by three-time world champion Master Curtis Page and six-time world champion Kalon 'Iceman' Page, sweeping the board with medals.
Chief instructors Linvell Taylor and Brian Kum battled their way through the heats to meet each other in the final with Taylor claiming gold and Kum silver.
Kum also won another silver in the men's veteran points.
Junior instructors Roxy Carbery also battled to claim a silver medal in the Women's Light Con section, with Sam Pierce winning gold in the men's over-75kg points section.
GBMAA Cobham instructor Sophian Rebai, 18, once again smashed his way to gold in the -75kg men's points.
The GBMAA children also did incredibly well with Cobham's Marcus Ashton, aged 12, fighting incredibly well to win a silver in the points under-58kg.
Cobham sisters Issie and Maisie Carrol also smashed the opposition in three categories and brought home a gold, bronze and silver between them.
GBMAA Epsom and Leatherhead students also added to the already impressive collection of medals with Cerize Power, 11, gaining a silver in the girls under-44kg intermediate points and then a gold in the under-44kg advanced points.
Fourteen-year-old Katie Harrison also impressed the crowd and judges with her martial gymnastics form and claimed silver while Ellen Michael, aged 14, claimed a gold in the forms weapons category and another gold in the under-58kg girls advanced category.
Danielle Chouls, 13, also fought her way with conviction to gold in the girls under-44kg novice points section.
Nine-year-old Poppy Giles, who is new to the circuit, did incredibly well and won silver in the -30kg girls novice points, with eight-year-old Jessica Murdoch claiming bronze in the same category.
Seven-year-old Samuel Govinden was the fighter of the day though, battling his way to silver through the huge category of U8s over-20kg , while 13-year-old newcomer Victoria Mitchell, also claimed silver in the girls novice points under-51kg.
All in all, it was an incredibly impressive medal haul for the GBMAA Predatorz with eight golds, ten silvers and three bronze medals.
