A TEAM of Leatherhead's postmen and women are gearing up for a charity cycle ride.
Bob Hogan and colleagues at the town's delivery office will pedal from Leatherhead to Littlehampton, in memory of a friend who died of cancer.
The team has completed the challenge every year since Geraldine Jones died in 1999, and last year raised £17,000.
Ms Jones' leukaemia was treated at The Royal Marsden Hospital for 18 months, before she died, aged 60.
Mr Hogan, 57, said: "I was overwhelmed by the way everyone in the Royal Marsden worked and by the way everything was carried out by the staff – doctors, nurses, in fact all involved. They are professional, caring and kind.
"Ever since, my colleagues and I have set out on a sponsored cycle ride to raise funds for the Royal Marsden.
"As well as our annual Leatherhead to Littlehampton event, we have in the past cycled from The Royal Marsden Hospital to Marseilles in the south of France, and on another venture, from Bordeaux to Barcelona."
This year's Leatherhead to Littlehampton ride will take place on May 11.
Would-be sponsors should make cheques payable to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and send them to Littlehampton Cycle Ride c/o Leatherhead Delivery Office, Station Road, Leatherhead, KT22 7AE.
