STANDING in front of a mirror, shrouded in your bath cloak, and practising your lightsaber moves – it's something most of us have done once in our lives.
Now injured service personnel at Headley Court can add "lightsaber" to their repertoire of weapon mastery after they were given swordfighting lessons by a Star Wars legend.
Stunt co-ordinator Nick Gillard, who choreographed the film's famous lightsaber battles, visited the rehabilitation centre last Thursday to give the men and women an unfamiliar workout.
Captain Matthew Barlow was among the soldiers who took part in the fun, and said it was "the most enjoyable rehab" he had done at the centre.
He added: "I was really excited when I found out about the event, and it cheered me up no end.
"I have to say that it took me right back to my childhood and put a big smile on my face.
"Physically we worked on co-ordination, agility, accuracy and balance, so it was a proper workout.
"Mentally it was very therapeutic as well and I got to meet new people on different courses.
"Personally I am a huge Star Wars fan, but who isn't? I would question the mental state of those who are not."
Speaking about the event, Mr Gillard said: "It went fantastically well and they all seemed to love it, which is great.
"I thought it would be a really good thing for some of these guys to do because they mostly just do gym work and when we taught the actors the moves they got so fit with it.
"It teaches you concentration and balance and it targets all sorts of unused muscles so I think, if like some of these guys you are missing a limb, it can be hugely beneficial."
Mr Gillard was joined by several characters from the film series, and the day ended with everyone watching Star Wars: The Phantom Menace at the centre's newly installed cinema.
The £410,000, 50-seat facility, which is run by charity MediCinema, was officially opened by Shaun Of The Dead stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost last year.
Captain Kevin Holligan said: "Patients can relax and they look forward to their evening in the cinema."
