Open Gardens
The second open garden day took place at the Chalet, Tupwood lane Caterham last Sunday, the home of David Gold. The event, which raises money for St Catherine's Hospice and the National Gardens Scheme, took place on a reasonably warm and sunny afternoon although with the recent cold spell, many of the 70,000 daffodils had not come out yet. As well as a pleasant walk around the grounds there was the opportunity to look at vintage cars, and talk to the owners. The Oxted Silver Band performed two sets in a marquee on the terrace whilst popular singer Noelle Vaughn sang to those taking advantage of the excellent cakes. The afternoon raised a record £4,517 and added to the previous weeks takings made a total of £7,107 for the charities.
