FEWER trains will be heading to and from Dorking, Leatherhead, Ashtead and Epsom into a major London terminus on Sunday. The South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance is advising passengers of engineering work taking place in the captial which will significantly affect train services in and out of London Waterloo. The work is needed to replace a crossing in the Waterloo area. Engineers are expected to require around 16 hours to complete the work and the access needed will mean Platforms 1 to 10 at London Waterloo will be out of use until 4pm on Sunday. As a result a very limited train service will be running on all routes in and out of London Waterloo. A normal service will resume from 4pm that day, with extra carriages running on some trains. Jake Kelly, customer service director for the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance, said: "This is an essential piece of complex and lengthy engineering work at a key rail crossing. "We are sorry for the disruption this will cause to our customers, however it is essential the work is completed as quickly as possible. "We run a very busy commuter network, which has around 500,000 passenger journeys on a weekday, and Sunday is the only opportunity we have to carry out such major work." Passengers are strongly advised to check before travel and allow extra time for their journey. As the number of services will be significantly reduced, all trains running into London are expected to be extremely busy. Arrangements have been made for other train companies to accept South West Trains tickets. Advice for passengers:*Passengers are advised to check southwesttrains.co.uk for further information*Tickets will be accepted on any reasonable alternative First Great Western, Southern, London Underground or London Overground route until 5pm on Sunday*Ticket restrictions will not apply on any advance tickets already booked for Sunday, and passengers can use these on any South West Trains service
