A SINGER who developed her love of music in Mole Valley has spoken about being part of the popular Military Wives Choir.
Lisa Moffatt, 37, grew up in Dorking and was a member of the St Martin's Church choir until the age of 16.
Mrs Moffatt's husband Danny, 37, is in the Royal Marines, and she was one of the founding members of the Lympstone Military Wives Choir following last year's BBC documentary The Choir.
She told the Advertiser: "I lived in Dorking for ten years and pretty much the whole time I was at St Martin's Church as head chorister.
"I moved away when I was 16 years old but I have very fond memories of being at St Martin's and of Martin Ellis (St Martin's director of music). It was a huge part of my life."
The Lympstone choir has performed at several high-profile stage and TV events including the Brit Awards, ITV's Surprise Surprise, This Morning and the Women Of The Year awards.
Mrs Moffatt, who stopped singing after leaving Dorking and only took it up again when the Lympstone Military Wives Choir was formed last year, said: "I have always loved singing ever since I was in the choir in Dorking and it was really nice to go back to it after so long.
"Moving around a lot, we saw different choirs and it's hard when you have got kids to join anything, so this was the first time I was able to do that.
"It's great because we can bring our children and it's a really good way to get to know the other girls.
"I really love the singing and meeting people aspect of it, the whole experience."
On Monday the choir launched its new album, Stronger Together, in Exeter.
"Hopefully it will do well," said Mrs Moffatt, who now lives in Plymouth. "The last one did well, it got to number one. But that's not why we do it; it's for the fun and getting to know people and the singing."
The Lympstone Military Wives Choir is one of five Military Wives Choirs in the UK, and the groups have worked together to release a Christmas album.
