REIGATE'S Emily Boden was given a tennis masterclass from three-time Wimbledon champion Boris Becker as her bid to become a Barclays Ball Kid entered its final stage.
The 16-year-old Dunottar School pupil was one of 100 youngsters to be given expert tuition from Becker at the Barclays Ball Kids National Trials at the Riverside Health and Racquets Club Northwood.
Up for grabs is the prize of starring alongside world number one Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Roger Federer at the O2 as one of 30 Ball Kids for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in November.
Boden, who attends Reigate Lawn Tennis Club, demonstrated her talent in front of Becker and Murray's former coach Mark Petchey and admitted it would be a dream come true to star at the O2.
"A few years ago I went and watched and I saw the Ball Kids advertised and didn't think anything of it," said Boden.
"But I thought I could actually try it and last year got through to the National Trials and then I thought I'd come back this year as it's my last chance.
"If I made it through I think that would be amazing. I always wanted to have another aspect of tennis and being a Ball Kid will be a once in a lifetime experience."
Boden was joined at the National Trials in London by fellow Reigate youngster Sudeshi Withanage Dona who admitted she would burst with pride if selected.
"I love tennis, I absolutely love it," said the 15-year-old Reigate Grammar School pupil.
"I have played since I was three and my uncle used to take me to the courts and I used to watch every major championship every year.
"It would mean more than the world to me and my parents would be really proud so it would mean a lot to me and my parents and my uncle."
