JUSTIN Bieber, Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding face a fight in the singles charts this week after a group of care home residents officially launched their debut song.
The single, called See Yourself, from Anchor Community Band features the voices of 150 older people from across the country, including residents of the Beeches Care Home in Leatherhead.
The song came after months of rehearsals and is being touted as a chart topper after becoming available on Amazon and iTunes on Monday.
A launch party was held at the Leatherhead care home on Monday to celebrate the single launch.
Residents Jennie Wilson, 90, and Margaret Hall, 85, joined their friends to hear the single they performed on for the first time.
The great-grandmothers said they had a great time recording the song and had been looking forward to hearing the final version.
Mrs Wilson added: "I never thought that I would appear on a single at my age.
"I hope the people of Leatherhead will now support us and buy the single."
Asa Johnson, Anchor's regional co-ordinator, added: "Everyone in the band has been on a fantastic journey from learning the words, rehearsing and then recording the song.
"It's a really powerful song, and is also very catchy."
All the money raised from the single will go to help Contact the Elderly, a charity that organises tea parties for elderly people living alone.
Julia Rivas, from the charity, said: "I hope we'll go somewhere in the charts with it.
"I wasn't really sure what it was going to be like but I like the words, I think they're moving and meaningful."
The lyrics of the Anchor Community Band's record were shaped by answers given to a questionnaire about the life experiences of older people from Leatherhead and the rest of England.
More than 350 people took part in 21 recordings for the single across the country. The track was written by Anchor manager Carl Martin.
See Yourself is available now to download and on CD.
