OXTED ONE WORLD GROUP

                                 £3000 Raised at30th Anniversary Dinner

80 members and supporters of the Oxted One World Group celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the founding of the charity at a dinner held at the Gurkha Kitchen, Oxted, with the food kindly donated by the owner, Purna Gurung.  Those attending, however, did not have a free dinner but paid for their tickets and bought raffle tickets to raise £3000 for overseas aid projects.

Chairman, Geoffrey Sanderson, thanked the owner and staff of the Gurkha Kitchen for a very enjoyable dinner.  He also thanked Jenifer Ruxton, Chairman of the Group's Project Committee, for her contribution over many years.  Over the last 30 years the Oxted One World Group has raised £600,000 from the local Oxted Community to support communities in the developing world with projects to assist with agriculture, education, clean water provision, health and medical procedures and income generation.  Dr. Donald Sammut, a renowned UK based hand surgeon who attended the Anniversary dinner, thanked the Oxted One World Group for the £7500 donated from its Christmas Appeal.  This had enabled the purchase of extra equipment for his hand surgery projects in Nepal which helped people whose hands had been deformed by leprosy.

The Oxted One World Group is a local charity, founded in 1983.  Organised by volunteers, its small overheads are covered by subscriptions from its 430 members.  It raises around £40,000 a year for overseas aid projects and is well supported by local churches and schools.  Donations may be made online via JustGiving or by sending a text message. Simply type in the code OWG011 followed by the amount you wish to give and send it to 70070.  Details of the Oxted One World Group are available on www.limpsfield.net .
