Police seek witnesses after woman is attacked by a dog in Godstone

POLICE in Tandridge are appealing for information after a woman was attacked by a dog in Godstone on Sunday. The attack took place at about 12 noon on April 28 when the victim, a woman in her late 50s, was walking along Bletchingley Road with a friend. According to the police the dog approached the pair before biting the victim in the thigh and stomach – she required treatment at East Surrey Hospital and is still on medication. The dog is described as a Doberman or Boxer breed, tan in colour with a large round head. A man, believed to be the owner of animal, is described as white, in his late 40s with mousey coloured hair and wearing a short sleeved buttoned shirt. House-to-house enquiries have been conducted in the area and a number of other potential witnesses have been spoken to. Investigating officer PC Alice Bennett from Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "I would appeal to anyone who can identify the dog or the man walking it to contact officers with information as this kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable and Surrey Police simply will not tolerate it."
