Jenny Bass
Villager Jenny Bass again swam in this years Guernsey International Masters Swim Meet, on the week-end of April 19th. Jenny came away from this competition with two 1st places, two 3rd places. Jenny swam breaststroke 100m and 50m, and also front crawl 100m and 50m. Jenny was delighted with her achievement, as there were plenty of others competing in her 70years age group. Jenny received Guernsey coins, instead of medals, with£2.00 for a 1st place £1.00 for 2nd place and 50p for 3rd place. Jenny and her husband John really enjoyed the glorious weather, and managed a bus trip around the Island and enjoyed all the lovely scenery, they had a walk around the Millennium Reservoir, and admired all the primrose covered banks and bluebells which are showing their heads there. Villagers send their congratulations to Jenny on her great achievement.
Parish AGM
The annual Parish AGM, was held at 11am after the 9.30am Wisdom Service on Sunday April 21st in the Church Hall. There were a good number of Parishioners who attended this year. The Vicar Garth Barber opened the meeting with prayers. The Easter Vestry Meeting opened with apologies, of which there were quite a number. The election of the Church Wardens was held. St Andrews saw Jane Hollington elected as Warden and Deputy Warden is Kevin Chamberlain. At the Wisdom of God the elected Warden is Graeme Knibbs and Deputy Warden Ron Searle. The AGM was then opened with the Vicar's report, which Garth also reminded all it was his last, as he retires in June. He had many to thank for all the eleven years he has been in charge of the Parish, special thanks went to Arthur Bowyer, who as Curate has been a friend and colleague for all those years. Much was reported on by Garth, as its seems many changes will happen in the future. Graeme Knibbs gave the Wisdom Wardens report. Elections were held for members of the PCC and other positions in the Parish. The reports from the other 14 committees and other groups within the Parish were all reported on the paper agenda, so not all were spoken on. The main worry reported and spoken by the Treasurer, Michael Smith is the financial position of the Parish, as this year it was down by a considerable amount. This is due to several factors, as there have been a number of churchgoers leaving the area, and of course health reasons, and sadly deaths. There was a great deal of discussion on ways to rectify this, but no real solutions appeared.
Garth Barber ended the meeting with a prayer. The Easter Vestry and AGM for 2014 will be held on Sunday 27th April, at 11am in the Church Hall.
