THE dedication and commitment of Mole Valley NHS staff and volunteers was celebrated at an awards evening last month.

Their outstanding achievements were recognised at an event attended by 150 people, including carers, colleagues and others working in health and social care.

More than 160 nominations were received for the Staff Achievement and Recognition Scheme Awards (STARS).

The ceremony took place at Epsom Downs race course on April 18 and was organised by the Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Finance officer Lisa Mercer, who works at the Trust's headquarters in Leatherhead, won the silver award for Partnership Working. The hard work of others behind the scenes at the Randalls Road headquarters was also celebrated, as a "virtual team" working across different disciplines of corporate services won a bronze.

The team – including Des Galyer, Nicki Rayment, and Ben Chambers – was praised for its commitment and flexibility. Ann Stevenson, Victoria Bishop and Stephanie Forster are also part of the team.

"They are highly accessible in and out of hours," said associate director of mental health services Helen Wood.

"They provide pragmatic, expert advice and support and put quality and people at the centre of what they do."

A total of 24 awards across eight different categories were given out to NHS staff and volunteers on the night.
