SURREY County Council helped almost 430 people with disabilities to find work in the past year. As part of a new initiative, the council has worked closely with EmployAbility, an organisation which helps secure paid employment, voluntary work or work experience for people with disabilities and dyslexia. In the last year the scheme has helped find opportunities for 426 people and supported nearly 600 people in their current jobs.The news follows an awards ceremony celebrating the achievements of disabled people and their employers.Christina Earl, Surrey County Council's EmployAbility team manager, said: "I'm delighted so many people with disabilities have found work they clearly enjoy and such a large number of firms and organisations have given them a chance to shine."
