Lingfield Fun Run
A new minibus is on the cards after the 31st Lingfield Fun Run went off with a bang.
In total, 395 runners and walkers from across the Lingfield area took part to raise money for maintenance of the community minibus and for grants to local groups and charities.
Organiser Graham Marks said: "It was a great day – a real community event."
The event started with a bang on Sunday as East Surrey MP Sam Gyimah fired the gun to start the runners, who had elected to tackle either a six or ten-mile run.
The race started at Young Epilepsy's grounds in St Piers Lane and went through Dormansland and Marsh Green.
It returned to Young Epilepsy where Mr Gyimah also dished out the certificates to the winners.
The funds raised had not yet been counted when the Mirror went to press, but Mr Marks said the Lingfield Marathon Minibus Committee would like to use the money to buy a new community minibus that is wheelchair-accessible by the autumn.
Blindley Heath Country Show
Cars took over nine acres of farm land at this year's Blindley Heath Country Show on Sunday and Monday (May 5 and 6).
Hailed a success, the Osney Lodge Farm based agricultural show's organisers have pledged to host the show next year.
"After the bad show last year, because of the weather, it was so fantastic to see so many people enjoying the show," said farm owner Graham Page.
"It was almost unbelievable how many people came to enjoy it."
Warlingham May Queen
Warlingham was ablaze with colour on Saturday for the village's annual May Queen crowning ceremony.
It started with a procession along Limpsfield Road to Warlingham Green, led by the Warlingham Flute Band and including local guides and brownies, together with the May Queen cortege.
The autumnal weather broke to reveal some welcome sun as Alice Dyer, 11, a pupil at de Stafford School in Caterham, was crowned queen.
