Appeal after attempted robbery in Epsom

Detectives from East Surrey CID are appealing for information after two men attempted to rob an elderly woman on the doorstep of her home in Epsom. The incident occurred around 11.30am on Friday, 17 May at the property on Kingston Road. One of the men grabbed the victim, a woman in her 70s, by the neck while they both demand money from her. They left the scene empty handed when they saw another resident at the property. Investigating officer Detective Constable Heather Francis, said: "This was a truly frightening ordeal for the woman and I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of the offence or who has any other information they believe may be relevant to contact us with information. "Incidents of this nature are rare in Epsom and we will do all we can to find those responsible and bring them to justice so that Surrey remains a safe and pleasant place to live and visit." The suspects are described as two white men, in their early 20s, with brown hair and wearing casual clothing.
