It's that time again, Caterham Carnival will soon be upon us and we're calling for all to be involved to show how wonderfully rich in culture and talent our community is. The Carnival procession needs floats and walkers to join us in making this a great display. Perhaps you've just begun a new business and would like to use the opportunity to advertise in a fun way?  Maybe you want to dust off those stilts or unicycle?  Maybe you'd like more members to join your sports club?  Or perhaps your Scout Group just loves the chance to dress up.
Over the years the carnival has seen large giants, cadets, drummers, fire engines, samba bands, elephants, May Queens, Salsa dancers and of course Caterham 7's. Those of you who've ever had the chance to be in the procession will remember the fun of being part of a large community event and getting your photo in the paper.  We mustn't let this great institution, which has been going since 1958, fade away. The Carnival route has changed this year which will allow more floats to be entered. Due to Police concerns about the hauling the procession up the hill it will now start at the Dene Hospital and continue around the hill ending, as usual, at Westway Common.  The best float and best walking group of the procession will then be announce in the main arena. Beth Wood, Artistic Director at The Arc, has taken on the role of organising those wishing to take part in the carnival procession – you can contact her on beth@the-arc-caterham.co.uk
