AN airport worker is in intensive care after falling from height while carrying out his job of stocking aircraft with food.
The 62-year-old man was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London with severe head injuries following the accident airside at Gatwick on May 14. last Tuesday (May 14).
Airport Police, firefighters and paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service treated the man before he was taken away by air ambulance just after noon. midday.
The man works for Gate Gourmet, a company which supplies food for aircraft.
It is thought he fell from an air bridge, a platform providing access to aircraft, although the exact circumstances are not known.
A spokeswoman for Gate Gourmet said: "I can confirm that one of our valued employees experienced a fall, and we are looking into details surrounding this unfortunate incident."
