YOU are more likely to be burgled on a Tuesday afternoon than any other day or time of day, if you live in Tandridge district – and Caterham Hill is the break-ins hotspot, new figures show.
There were 117 house break-ins in the six months to June 30, 13 per cent down on the same period last year.
One in three burglaries were in the CR3 postcode area, with the RH8 postcode (Oxted) accounting for 18 per cent of incidents.
The peak time was on Tuesday between noon and 3pm.
Security advice from Tandridge's Crime Reduction Advisor Mark Howells includes ensuring side gates are locked, property marking valuables and keeping front gardens free of overgrown foliage "to allow informal surveillance opportunities."
People living in Neighbourhood Watch areas have much lower break-in rates.
