Businesses in Reigate are being warned to be on their guard when accepting cash from customers after a man was seen paying with fake £50 notes today. The man is understood to have tried to pay with the fake cash in a string of stores along High Street earlier this afternoon. At least two shops were duped into accepting the forgeries, which are described as very good copies. The police were called in after he produced a fake note in Willows florist at the end of High Street. The suspect left the shop in the direction of West Street. Owner Shirley Cox said: "He had been in several shops down the High Street. He was very clever, he asked for a very normal request. "It was a very good forgery and no-one else had reported it." The man is described as well-spoken, wearing a blue shirt and aged about 40.
