FUNNYMAN Al Murray thinks having his own runway would speed up arrivals at Gatwick Airport.
The comedian, best known for his appearances on Have I Got News For You and his pub landlord character, made the quip on Twitter when he appeared to get delayed at the airport this lunchtime.
He took to the social networking site initially appearing to claim the aeroplane staff were struggling to get the door open, before sharing his exasperation at being stranded in a corridor.
He said: "Oh they can't get the door open on the plane, yes they can't get the door open on the plane oh joy"
Later adding: "Now we off the plane and in the corridor but we aren't allowed into the airport."
Reflecting on his situation, Mr Murray joked: "This wouldn't happen if I had my own runway."
The star was clearly also keeping an eye on the ongoing Ashes test match between England and Australia.
As the Aussies began their innings, chasing England's total of 361, he posted: "Australia off the mark. Can't stand the tension."
Today Gatwick is expected to unveil its plans for a second runway and a constellation on three two-runway airports to the Davies Commission which is looking at options to maximise the airport capacity of the South East.
