A teenage girl was sexually assaulted in a Brockham alleyway last night.
Police have appealed for witnesses following the attack, which is believed to have taken place in an alleyway adjacent to Wheelers Lane, close to the village centre, between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
Officers said the investigation is in the early stages and they are carrying out a number of enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
House-to-house enquiries are being carried out and officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team will be assisting detectives with the investigation.
Police have appealed for anyone who was in the Brockham area yesterday evening and may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.
Detective Inspector Karen Mizzi said: "The victim is extremely distressed and is currently being supported by specialist officers.
"There is a village fair on in Brockham this weekend so there would have been a number of people in the area last night and I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity to come forward.
"I would like to reassure the local community that we are doing everything we can to catch whoever was responsible for this crime."
