SEVERAL thousand pounds worth of cigarettes were stolen during a break-in at a Leatherhead petrol station in the early hours of Saturday, police have estimated. The burglary took place between 3.45am and 4.20am at the Texaco petrol station on Givons Grove. Around £10,000 worth of damage was also caused to the roof of the building, where it is believed the offenders gained access. Investigating officer PC Jonathan Wilkins said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the offence or who witnessed anything suspicious in the days prior to contact officers with information. "I would also ask anyone who has been offered any cigarettes at a cut down price and believe they could be stolen to provide information to police." Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference MV/13/2741 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
