Travellers who moved their caravans onto public green space in the middle of Merstham have been ordered to leave.
Up to 30 caravans moved onto Brook Road Open Space last night, after spending three weeks on Hooley Recreation Ground in Brighton Road.
Police and council offices have this afternoon issued the travellers with a 'Notice to Quit'. The order states they must leave by 9am tomorrow (Thursday).
A similar order issued to the travellers when they arrived in Hooley was ignored. They left more than two weeks later, after the council went to court to obtain a possession order.
Council officers have been cleaning up rubbish left at Hooley this morning.
