TWO men have been charged with public order offences following a large-scale fight in Cobham earlier this month. Officers were initially called to Hamilton Avenue at around 1.30am on Sunday, July 21, following reports that two large groups of people were fighting in the street. Witnesses said between 10 and 20 people, some armed with baseball bats, were involved in the altercation. The incident is believed to be linked to a disturbance at Cobham Village Club on the evening of Saturday, July 20. Three men were initially arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on bail until September 13 while the investigation continues. As a result of ongoing enquiries, police arrested a further three men on Friday, July 26, on suspicion of affray, assault and criminal damage in connection with the incident. Graham Ellwood, 50, of Brooklands Road, Weybridge, was later charged with a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon. Luke Wigmore, 19, of Molesworth Road, Cobham, was charged with a public order offence. Both men are due to appear at North Surrey Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 13. A man in his twenties who was also arrested on suspicion of affray has been released on police bail until September while the investigation continues. Anyone who witnessed either the incident in the club on the evening of Saturday, July 20, or the altercation in Hamilton Avenue in the early hours of Sunday, July 21, should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference EL/13/4854. Alternatively call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
