A CHURCH choir has received a massive boost after securing funding from the local committee of Surrey County Council.
Cllr Michael Gosling was thanked by members of St John the Evangelist church in Redhill for helping them secure £800, which has gone to funding new equipment and training courses.
Ginette Nye, director of music at the church, said: "We've been able to replace some very tatty folders they keep their music in. We've also brought training work books they can write in because we teach them to write and read music, so we'll be able to do that more easily.
"I'm also thinking of employing a voice coach to come and do a couple of vocal training sessions with the juniors."
The choir is open to everyone of all abilities.
