IT'S official: we are blooming marvellous.
Limpsfield, Reigate, Redhill, Tatsfield, Banstead and Horley were all named in the latest South & South East in Bloom Awards.
Limpsfield in Bloom was the highest scoring Surrey entry in the Southern Water contest, and won the gong in the large village category.
After collecting the award, group member Ann Osborn said: "It feels brilliant to win this award as we've worked very hard to get here – especially through the hot weather. The village looks glorious, thanks to lots of help and support from everyone across the community."
There were more than 350 entries from 18 regions. Celebrity gardener Chris Collins presented a number of trophies and certificates at the ceremony in Tunbridge Wells last Wednesday.
Horley Town Council was presented with a silver gilt award for the town centre for the third year and another for Horley Recreation Ground for the fifth year running. The judges said that town councillors "have a passion about their town centre and the fact that councillors use their own time to litter pick and inspect play equipment is to be commended."
Tatsfield won a gold award in the large village category, while Priory Park in Reigate scooped a gold in the large park category, and Lady Neville Recreation Ground in Banstead secured a silver award in the small park class. Redstone Cemetery, Redhill, won a silver gilt award and Reigate Garden of Remembrance won a silver.
