The town museum's latest exhibit, a large embroidered book on the history of the town which was put together by members of the local branch of the Embroiderer's Guild, went on display this week.
This book was created as an entry for a national Embroiderer's Guild competition, and gained a commendation from the judges.
Museum committee member Kathy Atherton said: "It's a lovely piece; each page deals with a different area of Dorking's history and is in a different style- ranging from dinosaurs and stained glass windows to some beautiful depictions of local fauna and even Laurence Olivier in well-known roles."
The book's cover features a watercolour painting of a Dorking cockerel by guild member Phyllis O'Shea which has been transferred to fabric with some stitching added.
Curators at the West Street museum will change the pages that are on display each week.
