BURGLARS took several thousand pounds worth of cash in a break-in at a DIY superstore in Leatherhead in the early hours of Friday.
Four tills were forced open during the burglary at about 2.30am at the B&Q store on Woodbridge Corner after the offenders gained entry by a window at the front of the building.
Beside the stolen cash, £160,000 worth of damage was done by the burglars before the money was even taken.
Investigating officer PC Michael Barker said: "This incident has left the company significantly out of pocket as all four tills will now need replacing following the burglary.
"I would appeal to anyone who has seen or heard anything suspicious in the area either around the time of the offence or in the days leading up to it to contact officers with information as it may help the investigation."
It is believed two offenders dressed in black committed the offence and left the scene in the direction of Kingston Road following the break-in.
Officers are now making a number of enquiries in the local area including CCTV and house-to-house.
