AN EYESORE site in Caterham is finally set to be developed.
The former Pinewood car showroom and garage site in Chaldon Road has become overgrown wasteland after it shut in 2006.
But a scheme for 14 flats, two business units and a retail site, together with 25 parking spaces, has been approved by Tandridge District Council's Planning Committee.
Caterham-based planning agents Weston Architects held a residents' workshop meeting in February, with people's preference for the site being a mixture of retail, business and housing.
Welcoming the go-ahead John Orrick, Surrey county councillor for Caterham Valley, said: "It's refreshing for someone to take the time and trouble to gauge local opinion."
