REDHILL shooter Lina Jones has said she is "honoured" be be chosen to compete for England at this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Jones, who is the current British women's 50m prone small bore rifle champion, is among the first competitors to have their place at Glasgow confirmed.
And while she was not born in England, Jones is still beaming with pride.
"I feel very honoured to be invited to represent my adopted country," the Lithuania-born athlete said.
"I originally came to the UK in 1992 but I would never have imagined back then that I would end up representing England at the Commonwealth Games.
"This is a special opportunity and the Commonwealth Games shooting range is out at Carnoustie, so we're ready for difficult, windy conditions.
"My goal is to perform well, making every shot count and if that's enough for a medal in the end, I'll be overjoyed."
The shooting events will take place on the Barry Buddon Ranges, an MOD training area located 14 miles north east of Dundee. They are next door and adjacent to Carnoustie Village and the world famous golf course of the same name.
The schedule is a busy five days of competition – July 25-29, which will be demanding for both shooters and officials.
Jones retained the English Women's 50m prone riflle championship title on Sunday; scoring 618.7 from a possible 654 in changeable winds on the electronic Malcolm Cooper range at the National Shooting Centre, Bisley Camp, Surrey.
