THOUSANDS of people packed Guildford High Street on Thursday night for the annual Christmas lights switch on.
The town was illuminated in a festive glow at 7pm as Aladdin star Susie Blake joined Mayor of Guildford councillor Jennifer Jordan and Santa Claus at Guildhall balcony.
Fireworks lit up the sky above the town centre following the switch-on, which marks the start of late night shopping each Thursday until December 20.
Mum-of-one Susie Moulder and husband James brought their daughter Emma to enjoy the festive fun.
She said: "It's been great. Now that the lights have come on it suddenly feels that Christmas is really coming."
