Formula 1 driver Max Chilton's so consistent in Austrian GP

AFTER drama in Canada, it was back to the consistent racing Max Chilton is known for in the Austrian Grand Prix.

Chilton collided with Marussia team-mate Jules Bianchi on the first bend of the first lap in Canada, sending both cars out of the race.

But the Marussia team were much happier with the pair's performances in Austria with Bianchi finishing 15th and Chilton 17th.

And Reigate-based racer Chilton believes he simply ran out of laps in his attempts to make ground on the cars in front of him.

"We had a very good strategy which enabled me to keep [Marcus] Ericsson behind and in the latter stages of the race, close the gap to [Kamui] Kobayashi," Chilton said.

"I had a really good second stint but unfortunately we just ran out of laps as the gap came down to only two seconds. Generally I'm pleased with 17th after starting at the back of the grid.

"It has been a positive end to the weekend but we've grown used to being able to focus on the cars ahead, not behind, so we need to recover a bit of ground for the next race to get us back on track.

"The next round is our home race, for the team and for me, so hopefully we'll find a little bit more pace to get us back where we need to be."
