Surrey Championship Division Four
Kingstonian 83
Oxted & Limpsfield 86-2
Oxted win by eight wickets
OXTED & Limpsfield strengthened their promotion hopes by humiliating lowly Kingstonian at Master Park on Saturday.
Heavy rain meant many cricket matches were forced to reduce the numbers of overs played at the weekend, but Oxted demolished their visitors so quickly that even the weather did not delay them.
The visitors had a team of nine, which did not help their cause, and the Oxted skipper, Stuart Fletcher, is anticipating a much sterner test when his side travel to league leaders Old Emanuel this weekend.
"It was disappointing they only had nine, I think that seems to be the way things are going at the moment," Fletcher said. "We bowled them out easily, sharing the wickets, and then picked up the runs relatively easy as well – Simon Jackson, our overseas player, is having a really good season.
"But it's the top of the table clash on Saturday and what better motivation that knowing a win will move us to the top?"
Kingstonian chose to bat first but opener Imran Khalid went for three and his replacement, Muhammad Asif, went for two, both caught by Mike Wood off the bowling of Lee McIlwraith.
Raza Sikander top scorer with just 23 for the visitors with the Oxted bowlers keeping a steady stream of Kingstonian batsmen trudging back and forth to the clubhouse.
The visitors found themselves all out of just 83 runs with McIlwraith (3-27) and David Paisey (3-29) taking three wickets each.
Such was Oxted's dominance, they would have been disappointed to lose two wickets in their reply.
Skipper Stuart Fletcher went for just three, while his replacement Nadeem Durrany went for nine, but Simon Jackson (50no) and Michael Adamson (12no) guided Oxted over the line.
