Surrey man who raped a 14-year-old girl is jailed

A man who raped a 14-uear-old girl in a Surrey hotel car park has been jailed for six years.

Zeeshaan Sheikh, from Woking was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Monday.

The victim, who was 14-years-old at the time of the offence, was picked up by Sheikh on the evening of 20 November, 2012 and then driven to the car park in Woking where he raped her.

 Soon after the incident Sheikh flew to Pakistan but was arrested on his return a few weeks later by police officers at Heathrow Airport.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Gordon Krebel said: "This outcome has been made possible thanks to the bravery of the victim combined with tireless work of a number of dedicated officers.

"The tenacity of the investigating officers demonstrates that Surrey Police will use all available methods and resources to relentlessly pursue those who commit serious offences of this nature within our county and bring them to justice.

"Surrey Police has a dedicated team that specialises in investigating serious sexual offences and reports will be thoroughly investigated. Victims can be assured that their welfare will be our priority."

Any victim of a sexual offence is encouraged to come forward to Surrey Police and report any similar incidents."
