An accident which blocked the clockwise carriageway between Junctions 8 and 9 has now cleared but severe delays remain.
Congestion has backed up to Junction 7 for the M23 following the accident between Reigate and Leatherhead.
The accident has now been moved to the hard shoulder and all lanes have reopened.
