A NUTFIELD adventure facility, which was described by neighbouring residents as living near a "war zone", has partly won its appeal to extend its hours.
Priory Events Ltd, at Priory Farm, off Sandy Lane, wanted permission to host clay pigeon shooting until 6pm on Saturdays, compared to the 2pm finish which was set ten years ago.
It also wanted permission to allow motorised activities on Sundays and bank holidays from 9am to 4pm.
An appeal followed Tandridge District Council's refusal of planning permission in June last year. At a planning inquiry in May, residents said the noise from the site was "unrelenting and intolerable".
This week, planning inspector Tim Wood decided Priory Events cannot carry out clay pigeon shooting after 2pm on Saturdays or at any time on Sundays and public holidays. The activity must also be held on just 40 days a year.
The company has also been told it is not allowed to move the location of its paintballing activities, after the inquiry heard the noise was "phenomenal".
However, Priory Events has been given permission, for a period of 12 months, to host motorised events, such as quad biking, until 6pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on 20 Sundays in the year. After the 12 months, no motorised activities must take place after 2pm on Saturdays or on Sundays or public holidays.
