Surrey Downs League Division Four
South Park Manor II 263-7
Headley Old Freemans II 134
Manor win by 129 runs
A RECORD-BREAKING knock by David Bignell secured victory for South Park Manor over Headley Old Freemans after he smashed an incredible 171.
Walking to the crease at number three, Bignell cracked a 116-ball century before he was eventually bowled scoring 27 fours and three sixes.
The innings is a South Park record having beaten 152 notched by former captain Denzil Mascarenhas 20 years ago.
Having lost the toss stand-in captain David Bullen helped Manor to a good start reaching 33 before he fell.
While Bignell was scoring freely at one end partnerships came and went with Gouthi (12) adding a few to the scoreboard.
For the home side Easton was the pick of the bowlers with 2-70 while skipper Ben Whiting (1-34) also starred with the ball.
After the interval, South Park began the defence with a fine start after Gouti (2-22) took two quick wickets to leave Headley in trouble.
Davies and Whiting (both 18) showed dogged resistance but after Greg Leatham was dismissed for 70 the home side were skittled out for 134.
Leatham was one of five victims for debutant Sagar Koppa (5-40) as Karl Mullen, Josh McCarthy and Bignell took a wicket apiece.
South Park at home to Newdigate next week.
