Concerns continue regarding the size and volume of HGVs using the A25 to access J6 of the M25 and thundering through the historic villages of Nutfield, Bletchingley and Godstone. The campaign group TAG-A25 was formed in October 2011 and have met with Surrey County Council to voice residents' concerns regarding damage to underground services and adjoining properties and also safety risks to pedestrians using the pavements especially where the highway narrows to less than 5metres causing HGVs to mount the pavements to pass.  Southern Gas have been involved with numerous repairs to underground services over the past 12months as old Victorianpipework is damaged by vibration from the large HGVs now using the A25 to access the Biffa landfill site in Cormongers Lane. Surrey Council have commenced an A25 route study to examine how these problems can be addressed and we await urgent action to restrict the current overload of heavy traffic on this unsuitable stretch of the A25.
