THE sex attacker who has preyed on young women must be caught before he strikes again, television viewers heard.

An appeal in the hunt for the suspect who preyed on three victims was made on BBC One's Crimewatch Roadshow last Thursday.

The man struck twice in quiet Waller Lane, Caterham – once on May 12 when he assaulted a 17-year-old schoolgirl, and again on May 20 when he attacked a 20-year-old woman.

A 15-year-old schoolgirl was his third victim when he struck in Searchwood Road, Warlingham, on May 20.

She was walking along when a car drove past her – only to reappear by her side soon afterwards.

The mother of the Warlingham victim, referred to as "Amy", said: "My daughter has been very quiet since this happened and has locked herself away a little, but she has been very brave. What that man did was wrong."

Speaking of the attack, Amy added: "It was really fast and a big shock.

"It was literally over in the space of about three seconds."

The 17-year-old Waller Lane victim was with a friend when she was indecently assaulted.

Referred to as "Jane" on the programme, she said they thought it strange when a car, which had passed them minutes before, re-appeared and came slowly towards them.

Expecting the driver to ask directions, she was shocked when he groped her.

Det Con Karen Scholey, who is investigating the incidents, said: "This man appears to be targeting young girls. One of his victims was a schoolgirl.

"This man is a menace. We need to stop him doing this again.

"The sooner he is caught the better."

She said the incidents had all the hallmarks of planned assaults.

The areas where the attacks took place had no footpaths, enabling the driver to approach close to the young women.

The suspect is described as being in his early 20s, with ginger hair and very pale skin.

He was driving a light to medium-blue coloured Vauxhall Bora.

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
