PUPILS and parents may be a familiar sight outside a primary school - but a horse??
The rider-less animal was recovered from outside St John's Primary School in Markfield Road, Caterham on July 7 - after the intervention of passers-by.
Iain Smith, who was on his way to a meeting at the school, said: "I noticed a workman near the school gates who had somehow acquired a horse.
"He called the police while trying to keep the horse calm, while I went to see if the school had any rope to tie the horse."
Mr Smith said by the time he had got out of his meeting the situation was almost resolved.
He added: "The workman and his colleague, two police officers, and two confused-looking horse owners were trying to work out how to get the animal home."
