DAN NEWTON is hoping to see his team take advantage of Guildford's poor form this season, admitting Saturday's game is a "must-win" for Banstead.
The Rams are currently rock-bottom of the Surrey Championship Premier Division, 19 points from safety and the only team in the league without a win to their name in 2014.
But skipper Newton is confident one win could turn Banstead's season around and believes Guildford could well be their first victims.
"They are very beatable," Newton said.
"They are lower mid-table and they haven't got much to play for. Reigate Priory, Sunbury and Wimbledon are teams battling for the title.
"We need to win three of the next five so it's a must-win game for us. Unfortunately with this format a lot of the game rests on the toss and the weather, but I'm confident. The table is actually a lot closer than it looks. A couple of wins could really transform our season."
The Rams will have Josh Lawrence and Richard Bedbrook back for the visit of Guildford, but should they still be in danger of relegation when the Surrey Championship switches to the 50-over format, they can call on some experienced help.
Former England and Surrey batsman Ali Brown, who scored more than 15,000 first-class runs in his career, has promised to help the struggling side.
"He's offered to help for the last couple of games if we're in trouble, but hopefully we won't need to call on him," Newton said.
Banstead earned a point last weekend thanks to a losing draw at current league champions Wimbledon, and Newton was pleased with the performance.
"Wimbledon away wasn't exactly a game we earmarked as a win," he said.
"We were short of a few players and ended up with a very young team, with five teenagers, but they played really well."
