YOU'RE never too old for a challenge, as 68-year-old John Power has proved.
A director of the trust which runs East Surrey Hospital, he covered 67 miles in less than 21 hours, raising almost £2,000 for the British Heart Foundation.
Amazingly he was 10th home out of about 1,000 entrants in the London to Brighton fundraising event last month.
A senior officer in the Parachute Regiment reserves, he ran through the night across the North and South Downs.
This was the longest distance the Purley resident had attempted since a parachute accident in 2004 left him with four metal plates and 24 screws in his body.
John said: "I was clearly the oldest by far so I was absolutely astonished to come in 10th, and with such a good time."
